Music Monday – Shadowfeet

2010 has been a bit of a challenge for me and I find myself winding down the year with deep gratitude and reflection.  I first heard this song by Brooke Fraser when a pair danced to it on So You Think You Can Dance.  It was mesmerizing—both the song and the choreographed routine.  Brooke’s voice has a pure ringing quality to it.  I highly recommend the entire Albertine album.

In terms of my journey this year, the lines that connect with me are “I am changing, less and less asleep made of different stuff than when I began” and from the chorus “when the world has fallen out from under me, I’ll be found in you, still standing.”  From reconnecting to and taking risks in my writing, to bearing a part of my soul at a writing conference this summer (I called it not only finding the courage to write, but also the courage to read), to the feelings of being stuck while managing through hours of post-car accident physical therapy.  To sweating for each individual pound of the 40 I’ve lost so far.  All of it has brought me to viewing my life experience in a different way—in a more purposeful way.
