I’m going to go with a ditty from my lifetime theme song list, Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me.  I remember having that song on steady tape rewind  (I hadn’t progressed to CDs yet) for a fella during the 18-20 era.  Now as a sane adult—because who really is in their late teens/early 20s?—the sentiment can really be applied in general to life.  There are things that can be controlled and managed.  The emotions, wants, ambitions, etc. of others isn’t one of them.
