Climbing Back on the Zombie Bus: ROW80 Check-In

“Zombie jamboree took place in a New York cemetery
(Where?) Zombie jamboree took place in Long Island
cemetery. Zombies from all parts of the island.
(Where?) Some of them are great calypsonians.
(Some.) Since the season was carnival they got
together in bacchanal. Oh, what ya’ doin’?”
 ~ “Zombie Jamboree” Kingston Trio

Heh, heh.  In the midst of catching up on some tasks today, I’ve seen my fill of zombie-themed fare from The Walking Dead to the Dawn of the Dead remake with the super fast buggers (shiver) to Resident Evil.  Ahh…horror.    🙂  I’m still not 100% (head hurting today and continued pain), but working on getting back to a normal schedule.

Writing/Craft

  • 1,500 words of new fiction a week either on novel WIP or short stories.  Yippee-skippee!  Got back to the WIP hard yesterday.  Just me in resting comfortably in the recliner cranking.  1,590 words done.
  • Read at least one chapter a week of a craft book.  Not done.  Wrote and caught up on other items this weekend.
  • Read at least one chapter of a novel each week.  Done.

Social Media

  • Blog three times a week.  Three regular and two ROW80 updates.
  • Read, comment and share at least 10 blogs a week.  Reading and sharing done.  Commenting about half done.
  • Check Twitter and Facebook at least once daily.  Done.

Healthy Happy Living

  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, three times a week.  Temporarily on hold as I mend.
  • Finish my poncho project via crocheting one hour a week.  Not done.  I typically do this on Wednesday and did not this week.
  • Enjoy watching one movie a week without multitasking.  Done.

How did your week wrap up?  Did you reward yourself with a treat (like my zombies)?  Be sure to check out the ROW80 updates of others via the blog hop.

  1. It sounds like you are on top of your game. You are accomplishing many of your goals. I am not really sure what ROW80 is, but I am going to read about it next. It has to be a good thing if it is keeping you this focused on goals in all areas of your life. Kudos!

I am in your thriller/suspense group for the Platform Building Campaign Challenge. I am also here to tag you. http://fictiontoolbox.blogspot.com/2012/02/ive-been-tagged.html

Have a good week. I will check back later this week to read more.

    • Hi Melissa. Great to meet you! Appreciate you stopping by and the kudos on my goals. Yes, it is great to have a plan to focus on getting goals done in small chunks.

To your question about ROW80, the challenge is one where we set goals based on what our next step needs are with our writing projects and what is going on in our lives. The goals can be anything as long as they are measurable (don’t have to be all writing). You set the goals, push forward on them and modify if needed. No shame, no judging yourself against others. You can check out the program’s site for more info (and to join us!): http://aroundofwordsin80days.wordpress.com/

  2. I love your lists/goals. It’s inspirational, but I don’t know anything about ROW80-so fill me in please.

    • Thanks Walker! See my answer above to Melissa re: the program details. I’ve crafted my goals to be writing and life-balanced focused. Some others keep them to writing only (e.g., finishing the edits of a book during a round). The beauty is that the goals are customized for what we presently need and can be modified if that changes.

  3. Yeah!!! Congrats on the progress on the WIP. Sooooo glad that you are healing and feeling better. Take care of yourself, Barbara!

  4. Sounds like you got a lot done! Especially getting back into the writing – good job! I like your goal of sitting down to enjoy a movie without multi-tasking. I can’t remember the last time I did that. I might just have to add that to my list next time. Have a great week!

    • Absolutely add the movie goal, Jennette! That one has been so fun. I used to be on my laptop when watching DVDs and end up half seeing films and not enjoying anything. Now I can sit back and enjoy and learn from how the story is woven.

  5. Woot woot – you had a GREAT week Barbara! So glad you got back into your WIP – so pumped!! Hope you are continuing to mend and feel better!! Woot woot!

  6. Keep up the awesome work!!!! 🙂 Here’s to you being a 100% real soon!
